Hillside Flowers – by Mona Hauge

Step by Step by …………

Hi everyone 🧚‍♀️

Mona here with my latest Step by Step tutorial called Hillside Flowers. Hope you like it.

Step 1.

On some A5 white Multifarious card blend some Element Inks Pine, Soft Cygnet, Blue Atoll, Midnight Blue, Blue Lagoon and Pixie Green. Apply the colours like you see in the picture. Use plenty of the lighter colours on top of the darker colours.

Step 2.

Stamp the beautiful Forest Leaf LAV845 in Versafine Clair Rain Forest. Cover with Liquid Masking fluid.

Step 3.

Now stamp the Group Poppies LAV112 in Versafine Clair Shady Lane and cover all with Liquid Masking fluid.

Step 4.

Now stamp the Tall Dandelion LAV747 in Versafine Clair Morning Mist and the English Bluebells LAV 711 in Versafine Clair Shady Lane. Cover all with Liquid Masking fluid. On the Tall Dandelion we just add masking fluid over the little dot in the centre.

Step 5.

We need some beautiful Leaf Spray LAV741 stamped in Versafine Clair Shady Lane and now we spray a little water on our card. Dab off the water with some paper towel or dry with a heat tool.

Step 6.

Now we use our watercolour brush to create some mountains in the background. The water from the brush will react with the Ink and create a beautiful watercolour effect.

Step 7.

It is time to remove the Masking and we need to make sure the card is completely dry.  Use a heat tool to make sure it is dry all the way through. Start with some colouring. I use my wonderful Mondeluz Aquarelle Pencils. Always choose 3 or more colours for each object. This helps you to get more depth in the picture. For the bigger Poppies use red, orange, yellow and a light yellow. On the leaves use 4 different greens. A very dark green around the edges, a medium green as a base and then the bright light green for some highlight effect and a blue green to give it some shadow. In the middle of the Tall Dandelion I used beige, grey and white.

Step 8.

For the smaller Poppies colour using purple, pink and beige. On the Bluebells we can only squeeze in 2 colours, light blue and dark blue.

Step 9.

Add some subtle yellow layers by gently blending some Elements ink Sundance to the centre of the horizon, as you see in the picture. By adding light layers of colours, you will have more control of where you would like the colour lighter or darker. The gorgeous Leaf Spray and the Tall Dandelion needs a little colour too. On the Tall Dandelion put a dot of White Uniball pen in every fluffy seed head and use a White and a Yellow Posca pen to dot some colour on the Leaf Spray.

Step 10.

A few gorgeous Dragonflies from the Fairy Bugs LAV471 stamped in Versafine Clair Rain Forest will complete our picture. Now we need highlights on everything.  I love to use my white Uniball pen. Also draw some lines in the water. Look at the picture for placement.

Step 11.

Only some white and Yellow Posca pen splatters left and we are finished!

Thank you so very much for following my Step-By-Step Tutorial. If you have any questions, just send me a message and I will answer as soon as I can. Hugs from Mona.
