Hubble ‘Bauble’, Toil and Trouble by Maggs Barrett
Design team member Maggs Barrett uses a trick or two to cook up a treat for Halloween.
She stamps our classic Witch and Cauldron onto clear acetate before locking her up in a bauble with all manner of spooky artefacts.

The ingredients Maggs used were:
Lavinia 15cm Bauble
Lavinia Witch and Cauldron stamp set
Lavinia Elements ink pad to colour embellishments
Versafine Clair Ink pads for inking acetate
Black Embossing Powder
Versamark Watermark Stamp pad
Lavinia Mask set
Heat resistant Acetate
Embellishments and ink colours of your choice
The Steps in creating the bauble
(click on the first image to view as a slideshow)
- The basics to inspire your own creations.
- Cut out a 15cm circle from heat-resistant acetate. Be sure to cut a little square tag at the top of the circle, to enable snug insertion into the bauble.
- Stamp the Witch and Cauldron with Versamark watermark stamp pad (Dusting your acetate with a dust buddy will help to prevent stray bits of embossing powder getting everywhere). Cover with your black embossing powder, tap off the excess and use a heat gun to set.
- Use Versafine inks and Lavinia Mask set for your moon and night background.
- Use Posca pens or alcohol pens of your choice to do spirals of smoke and the rusty patches on the cauldron
- Once it is dry, roll up your acetate and insert it into the bauble
- Use your own choice of materials to decorate. I have used black tulle, threaded cotton 1/4 way down, all along the edge, then pulled the cotton to give gather, then tied onto bauble. I added some black feathers and mini pumpkins, then tied some ribbon and ribbon leaves
I hope that you enjoyed this tutorial, and maybe make your own spooky bauble.
Stay safe and well.
