Hidden Fairy. Another “How To Do It” article from Sarah Anderson.
The Art of Moodling
As soon as I saw Tim Holtz’ Ideaology Pocket Watches I knew I wanted to put a fairy in one!
This project uses the wonderful Yupo Paper and alcohol inks and I can highly recommend Tracey’s video if you’re new to these resources.
- Three Dancing Fairies
- Make a Wish
- Yupo Card
- Alcohol Inks: Butterscotch, Purple Twilight, Citrus
- Archival Inkpads: Jet Black
- Tim Holtz Ideaology Pocket Watch
- Craft Acrylic Paint: White, Dark Green, Gold
- Selection of fine glitter and star confetti, fabric/ribbon and charms
- Double-sided sticky tape
Take the back off the Pocket Watch, draw around it onto the Yupo Card then trim just inside the lines so it fits inside the metal back.
Put a few drops of Butterscotch and Citrus alcohol inks onto a piece of felt.
Dab the felt onto the circle of Yupo Card.
As you dab the felt repeatedly, the mottling effect of the ink increases.
Put a few drops of Purple Twilight alcohol ink onto another small piece of felt. Dab around the area where the lavender will be stamped,
Stamp ‘Lavender’ as shown using the Jet Black Archival inkpad.
Using the same inkpad, ink up the tiny dandelion seeds from ‘Make a Wish’ and stamp. Stamp a tiny fairy.
Apply double-sided sticky tape to the back of your Yupo Card.
Fix your stamped Yupo Card inside the back of the watch.
Take the front of your pocket watch and rub a rough layer of white acrylic paint around the metal areas. Once dry, add dark green followed by hints of gold.
Tie a short piece of fabric or ribbon to the pocket watch and add some charms.
Sprinkle some glitter and star confetti onto your Yupo Card before placing the other section of the pocket watch on top.
Add a chain to your pocket watch (I used a beaded bracelet).
Place your completed project somewhere it will make you smile; mine is on my fauxdori!
