Fairy Rooftops by Sarah Anderson

Fairy Rooftops. Another “How To Do It” article from Sarah Anderson as she gets creative using Lavinia Stamps products. The Art of Moodling

I adore rooftops and chimneys and can be found photographing these when away on holiday I love them so much!

I am very blessed to have a craft room at the top of our house which also looks out on rooftops and chimneys.  So I decided to focus on these elements using the beautiful ‘Fairy Inn’ and ‘Bella’s House’ stamps.

This would make a great card for someone who is moving house.  The rooftops also look great layered like this on a tag.

Supplies Used:

  1. Fairy Inn
  2. Bella’s House
  3. Fairy Buds
  4. Star Cluster
  5. Background Script
  6. Distress Oxide inkpads: Faded Jeans, Antique Linen, Peacock Feathers, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, Seedless Preserves
  7. Versafine inkpad: Onyx Black
  8. White card
  9. Black card
  10. Water Spray Bottle
  11. Heat gun
  12. Glue stick
  13. A6 pre-folded White Card and envelope

Step by Step Instructions:

Dab Distress Oxide ‘Abandoned Coral’ onto a craft mat, acrylic block or glass worktop saver.

Repeat with a variety of shades of Distress Oxide.  I used ‘Twisted Citron’, ‘Lucky Clover’, ‘Seedless Preserves’, ‘Picked Raspberry’ and ‘Peacock Feathers’.   Spritz with water so the ink forms droplets as shown.

Swish a piece of white card through the ink.

Dry the ink with a heat gun then place the card back onto the inked surface to pick up a further layer of inky droplets.

Using the Onyx Black Versafine ink pad, stamp the houses onto the inked card.

Using the Onyx Black Versafine ink pad, stamp the houses onto the white card.

Cut out the houses of your choice from the white card, and the related roofs from the inked card.  Attach the roofs to the houses using the glue stick.

Ink a piece of white card, measuring   12 cm x  6 cm, using Distress Oxide ‘Antique Linen’ and ‘Peacock Feathers’ in the same way as step 2.

Using Distress Oxide ‘Faded Jeans’ stamp the ‘Star Cluster’ at the top of the inked card.

Hold ‘Background Script’ as shown to stamp small sections of it in Distress Oxide ‘Faded Jeans’ around the edge of the inked background, and Distress Oxide ‘Antique Linen’ elsewhere.

Trim ‘Fairy Inn’ above the name of the inn.

Layer your houses behind the inn.  Trim a piece of black card to mount your inked card.

Ink a piece of card with Distress Oxide ‘Picked Raspberry’ and ‘Worn Lipstick’ as shown in Step 2.  Stamp both ‘Fairy Buds’ with Versafine Onyx Black and cut out.

Use the acetate that come with the stamp to work out where to stamp ‘Fairy Buds’ on the card.  I marked this with a pencil then stamped the images onto the white card before mounting the rooftop centre piece.

Attach the pink ‘Fairy Buds’ with a glue stick.  I am not the cleanest card maker and got some black marks on my card, so I added some ‘Background Script’ in patches along the spine and in the bottom right hand corner to hide them!
