untitled-022Fairies in Starlight. A “How To Do It” article from Sarah Anderson.
The Art of Moodling

This month we combine acrylic paint and distress inks using the Gelli plate and the beautiful fairy chain.

If you’ve not used paint with your Gelli plate before, using a single colour in this way is a good introduction.

Paint does dry quicker than inks when using the Gelli plate but you don’t have to be super speedy to complete this project.

Supplies Used:

Step by Step Instructions

Using a luggage tag as a template, cut a tag shape from a piece of matt card.  I couldn't find my hole punch so used a star punch, which then influenced my tag design later on!

Lightly brayer the paint so it covers the whole of the gelli plate.  Roll the excess paint off the brayer on some scrap paper.

Place a piece of sequin waste, or a stencil of your choice, over the gelli plate.  Roll the brayer the length of the gelli plate in one single motion.  This will lift off the paint inside the sequin waste circles.  Again, roll the paint off the brayer on some scrap paper.

'Stamp' the background script around the edges of the gelli plate.  The stamp is uninked and is lifting paint off the gelli plate.

'Stamp' Ink Caps onto the gelli plate, stamping it onto the scrap paper after each 'stamp'.  Again you are lifting the paint off the gelli plate using the stamp.
