This step by step tutorial comes courtesy of Design Team member, Maggs Barrett.
She shows us how a Lavinia Stamps cutting file can be used to produce a stencil, through which to etch a pattern on a glass jar.
“I’m a big fan of Yankee Candles and I love the shape of the lidded jar they come in at Asda.
They also make perfect storage jars, so once I have finished with the candle, rather than throw them away, I wash them and put them to another use.
Of course we know they are candle heat proof as there was already a candle in them, so they could also be used to put a tea light in, or use as a small vase.
So below I have done a tutorial using etching paste with the cutting files. I used ‘Sky’ as I adore her”
You will need:
- A suitable jar
- A Lavinia Stamps Cutting file such a “Sky”
- A small piece if vinyl
- Etching Paste
- A small craft knife
- Masking tape
- A herd rubber scraper or squeegee
- A Dremel Vice
- Goggles and protective gloves
