In times past it was said that an artist must suffer for their art, stereotypically spending many hours honing their craft in a freezing garret with only icicles for company. Today it is a necessity to have central heating and better company where possible! So it was in the deepest darkest winter two intrepid, or perhaps foolhardy, artists met up after hours to get creating.
This was no ordinary creative session. This was magnified and also very, very messy..!
The structure of their projects had already been made so they started creating a form onto which they would add the modelling medium. The form was created using a variety of home essentials namely, tin foil, bin bags and masking tape. Take a look at what these two got up to…
Please note these videos have been sped up. These two do not work as fast as this usually.
After the forms were made then the pair moved it outside to avoid creating any mess on the newly decorated interior. To ensure that Tracey remained as clean as possible she was dressed from head to toe in a bin bag! They poured the Powertex, ripped the cotton and began.
The temperature outside dropped. A slight mizzle had started to surround them. Still…they kept on creating. Their hands lost feeling and the Powertex started to feel warmer than the air itself! Still…they kept on creating, totally focussed on completing their task.
The day finished with 4 completed Powertexed stalks, 4 frozen solid Powertexed hands and even a Powertexed fringe. It was totally fabulous!
