Dana admiring the Swan Vase by Rosemary Rogers

Step by Step by Rosemary Rodgers

Hi Lavinians 🧚‍♀️ Hope you enjoy today’s tutorial named “Dana admiring the Swan Vase”

Let’s get stuck in!

  1. Using 6×6 Multifarious Card. Place the bottle Sticker stencil aperture from Sticker Stencil 6 over the card.
  1. Using Della Blue and Blue Atoll Element Inks, lightly brush over the aperture using a Lavinia Stencil brush series 9, until you’re happy with colour. Brush the edges with the darker blue to give depth to Vase. Mask off the water line with low tack masking tape then using Della Blue and Lavinia brush, gently brush over card to make a water line.
  1. Ink up the Swan stamp with Morning Mist Versafine Clair then gently press onto small Gell plate.

Take the Gell plate and line up the swan underneath the waterline to give you a swan shadow. Then line up Swan stamp above the printed shadow, again in Morning Mist, to directly stamp the swan.

4.Cut out a mask for the swan, place this over the swan image and stamp second swan just behind the first image, then repeat shadow effect for the second swan.

5. Mask off the base of the vase with masking tape. Make a few masks of the pebbles then stamp above masked area using morning mist Versafine Clair.

6. Place Card onto a stamping platform. Now place the large Botanical Blossom stamp onto your image. Ink stamp with Versafine Clair Twilight, then stamp onto card. You may find that you have to stamp more than once pressing well around the edge of the aperture area. Using the Botanical Blossom bud stamp,  stamp the edge of the card as shown in the picture with Twilight ink.

  1. Using white acrylic paint thinned down with very little water, paint over the swans once or twice with a thin brush. Once dry use a creamy white pen to give a textured look of feathers. Highlight the swans and the water with a Stardust Gelly roll pen.
  1. Remove the aperture. Place some low tack masking tape across the bottom of the card , just level with the pebbles. Remove the sticker stencil mask and cover the vase sticker stencil bottle shape. This will protect it. Blend a light touch of Elements ink Pine to the bottom of the card to create a ground and use the Dynamic stencil in Elements Ink Pine to create a gentle texture. Remove the masking tape, cover the green area with scrap card. Then blend a light touch of Elements Ink Della Blue to the rest of the card and use a Lavinia stencil Brush series 9 to add a slightly stronger touch through the Dynamic stencil. Highlight the swan beaks with an orange glitter pen, then colour the pebbles with a grey Mondeluz watercolour pencil.

9. Remove the Bottle Sticker Stencil. Using Versafine Clair Twilight ink up the small leaf stamp from Botanical Blossom in the clear space opposite the swan.

To finish off the card, stamp Dana on the left side of the card in Versafine Clair Nocturne, see the photo for placement. Then highlight her lamp with yellow pencil and clear Stardust Gelly Roll. I usually edge my card with a black sharpie pen. Mount the card onto a 7×7 inch blank card.

Hope you have fun during the Spring Extravaganza.

Good luck with the competitions!
