Lyndy Swain May 21, 2009

fairy-door-2-lyndy-swainI brayered the background with sunshine yellow and lettuce altho I still haven’t quite got the whole brayering technique yet! Then I used the large fairy door, set of three mushrooms and the fairy dust verse. The background was made by clear embossing the stars to create a border

Thank you Lyndy, looks great……..

Lynne Wilkins May 21, 2009

landscape-1-lynn-wilkinsFinding the technique was the hardest part but once i grasped it, it was plain sailing from then on. I hope this gives confidence to those who are struggling with the brayering technique. Don’t give up and keep practicing and suddenly it all clicks into place.

Thanks for your comments Lynne……

Sarah Anderson May 18, 2009

sarah-anderson-2 The Same technique was applied as Sarahs other card, again a lovely card, something a bit different.

Sarah Anderson May 18, 2009

Both images are embossed with black sparkle embossing powder on the pre-prepared backgrounds. These were made as part of a mini workshop by Paddy at Paddy’s Stamping Place.
The pink one has ink applied using cut’n'dry foam, which was then stamped with a rollagraph and text and gold pearl paint stencilled through a snakeskin stencil.
The green one has a small flourish stamped with versamark then coloured pen was put on crinkled cellophane, spritzed with water then used to apply colour to the glossy card. It was then stamped with a rollograph.

Thanks for sharing that with us Sarah, i just love the texture on the background

Carols tips on Paper Weaving May 18, 2009

Well Carol has very kindly shed some light on Paper weaving, So in her words below, she explains how she did it….Thanks  for taking the time Carol

Paper weaving? I have never seen it done so don’t know if this is the ‘right’ way but it works for me!

I use 3 or 4 co-coordinating papers and cut them into 1cm strips. Measure your card blank then take your piece of card that you want to use, I leave enough space to mat & layer when finished. Place a thin strip of double sided tape right at the top edge of your card, then carefully place a line of strips making sure there are no gaps between. When you have done this take your first strip and place it at the left side near the top, you will see where to start from the place where your line of double sided tape ends. I use a little bit of glue to anchor it, then take it under the next vertical strip, over, under etc until you reach the right hand edge. The next strip goes under the vertical strip. Make sure that it butts up nicely to the first strip so there are no gaps showing. Then you just work your way down the card. I finish with another thin piece of double sided tape at the bottom. I also use glue at the beginning and end of each horizontal strip to keep it in place. Then trim off the excess, mount your images on it & it’s ready to mat & layer onto your card blank

Fairy Door May 18, 2009

fairy-door Here we have the large Fairy Door stamp with built up Folage that you can extend yourself.

Firstly i brayered the background with a little of the Adirondack Citrus, then Stamped the Fairy door in Versfine Black I then used Versafine Moss green, Olympia Green and Black to build up the Folage on the tree, which adds depth to the picture, i then used my water pen with some of the Adirondack ink pads ( as these are water based inks ) to fill in a little colour, just to bring it to life, finishing off with the Fern leaf stamped around the edge of the card, along with the spiders web and the large  slim mushrooms, i think you will agree this picture really absorbs us into the realms of Fairy Land.

Brayering May 6, 2009

I have had a few people contact me regarding the technique of Brayering and  a few of you experience lines on your card, and have tried everything to get rid of them  some of you have had to walk away in pure frustration…….,i do sympathize i am a little like that with computors….Anyway its down to one simple thing TO MUCH INK ON THE ROLLER , once you have inked your roller up make sure the area that you are using on your roller is completely covered, then on a scrap piece of A4 paper take the ink back off three or four times the length of the scap paper, so there is no surface ink on the roller left, now you can start using the Brayer on your card.

if youwant a stronger colour just repeat the above process dont be tempted to put a whole load more ink on, you wil just end up in one big mess……..

Your card is important i use matt card but it still needs to be very smooth …no texture almost silky.

Use a one way movement…..not backwards and forwards.

Its really that simple…. if anyone has any other questions please email me,and i will do what i can to help,

in the mean time i hope this helps some frustated people out there……

xx
